Media Release: Graduation Day 2025 – JSS College of Physiotherapy, Mysuru

Mysuru, July 14, 2025 – JSS College of Physiotherapy, a prestigious institution under JSS Mahavidyapeetha, celebrated its Graduation Day on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM. The event was held at the Sri Rajendra Centenary Auditorium within JSS Hospital, Mysuru, under the divine blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji of Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana Math, Sutturu Srikshethra. This occasion marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the graduating students.

Ceremony Highlights

The ceremony began with a procession of graduates, followed by an invocation. Dr. Vijay Samuel Raj V, Professor, delivered the Welcome Address, setting a warm and inspiring tone for the event. Dr. Kavitha Raja, Principal of JSS College of Physiotherapy, presented the Annual Report, highlighting the institution’s achievements, including global collaborations and national honors. She also administered the Graduation Oath to the students.

In total, 57 undergraduate and 29 postgraduate students were awarded degrees, celebrating their academic accomplishments and readiness to contribute to the field of physiotherapy.

Dignitaries and Addresses

The Chief Guest, Dr. Mohammed Asheel, National Professional Officer (Injuries, Disabilities, Assistive Technology & Rehabilitation) at WHO India, delivered an inspiring Graduation Day Address. He emphasized the evolving role of physiotherapy in global healthcare, highlighting a shift from focusing on disability to enhancing functionality. Dr. Asheel stressed the importance of physiotherapy in improving quality of life and noted WHO’s strategic priorities in addressing functional disabilities through acute care and prevention. He pointed out the increasing global demand for physiotherapists, especially in managing Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), and emphasized that the world needs more physiotherapists than ever before. He discussed the responsibilities graduates must undertake, referencing WHO’s eight rehabilitation packages, which were significantly shaped by physiotherapists. Dr. Asheel encouraged graduates to strive for excellence, serve as ambassadors of JSS College of Physiotherapy, and uphold values of humanity and friendship. He urged them to express gratitude to their alma mater, reconnect with their teachers, and cherish the relationships formed during their academic journey. He concluded his address by wishing all graduates a bright and promising future.

Presiding over the event, Sri R. Mahesh, Director of the Medical Education Division at JSS Mahavidyapeetha, delivered the Presidential Address. He encouraged graduates to pursue excellence and contribute meaningfully to community rehabilitation and wellness. He emphasized that physiotherapy is not just a profession but a calling to relieve pain, restore function, and enhance patients’ quality of life. He also highlighted the values-based education promoted by JSS Mahavidyapeetha under the divine guidance of His Holiness Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, urging graduates to carry forward this legacy with ethics, empathy, and skill.

Closing Ceremony

The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt Response from the Graduates, followed by a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Sandeep, Associate Professor. The event ended with the National Anthem, bringing the celebration to a dignified close.
